Transcript: Car-sharing helps reduce Iowa’s fuel consumption
Car-sharing services are popping up across Iowa to offer transportation flexibility while helping the environment.
This is the Iowa Environmental Focus.
The city of Iowa City and
the University of Iowa are looking into using a car-sharing service. Other Iowa
schools have already started similar programs, including Iowa State University,
Wartburg College, Luther College and Grinnell.
After registering online, car-sharing members can access vehicles around cities and campuses by swiping a membership card through a detector located on the vehicle. Most programs, allow the cars can be rented anywhere, any time.
Car-sharing programs help the environment by reducing the need for students to bring their cars to college campus. Additionally, most car-sharing programs use hybrid vehicles to further reduce fuel consumptions.

Thank You.
