Neila was also quoted on NPR for logical opposition to lead in our environment and wildlife. This is her comments from an article in today's DM Register. Phyllis The Sierra Club’s Iowa chapter is already reviewing legal options to challenge or reverse the governor’s actions, noted Neila Seaman, director of the group. Seaman said the governor’s decision to intervene doesn’t make sense to her. Even if lead shot poisoning is endangering only a small numbers of animals, alternative types of ammunition — including steel shot — is easily available at a slightly higher cost, she said. That should dictate that the rule stands simply as a precautionary measure to protect public and animal health, she added. “Is this what we want for our wildlife population? I don’t think so,” Seaman said. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp
