Dear Wallace and Pamela,
Victory is ours!
The Iowa Legislature adjourned May 9, 2012, without the Senate debating
HF561, the bill that would allow MidAmerican Energy to begin charging customers
for a nuclear power plant that may or may not ever be built.
You played a big part in successfully stalling the bill
until the clock ran out.
Since the issue came up as a study bill during the 2010
session, the Sierra Club Iowa Chapter has distributed seven action alerts. No doubt you were tired of hearing from me
about the issue. It was, however, the
constant pressure on the legislators that caused this bill to die.
I sincerely thank you for staying with us on this issue. We couldn't have done it without our
members and supporters actively participating in the political process.
Sincerely,
Neila Seaman, Director
Iowa Chapter, Sierra Club |
