Thanks Tom!  Just got back from India and Earthwatch expedition on climate change--we counted bees, butterflies, plants in orchards and forests and saw a documentary on the disappearance of bees that was frightening!   We were told the best thing individuals can do immediately is start a hive and plant lots of flowering plants--so my neighbor and I have teamed up--they will get the hive and we will plant as many flowering plants as usual--we do have 20 acres of meadows with some original prairie plants and can do more.  A neighboring valley in India lost it's bees and apple crop because of pesticides and was a good lesson to farmers we visited.  No big surprise family farms in India have the same problems American farmers do in fighting big ag with it's poisons and loss of plant diversity.
 
The cow is sacred in India and every family had one and people were sustained by the cow's milk with cheese and butter and the urine was for purification--they sprayed it on apple trees to stop disease and spread the manure on crops instead of commercial fertilizers.  While I saw cows eating out of dumpsters in the cities--not a blade of grass--they all roamed free in cities and the country--not like USA feedlots body to body knee deep in their own excretement and horribly slaughtered! 
 
Glad to have this information and glad Sierra Club is suing EPA.  Sorry I've never visited these wetlands but interested in doing so now.  Phyllis

  Sierra Club is suing the EPA for its approval of neonicotinoid pesticides, which are strongly linked with the honeybee demise. Without honeybees, we stand to lose one third of our food supply. Despite millions of people urging the EPA to ban these neonics, it's gone to deaf ears. This lawsuit is the last effort.
   We need Sierra Club members who have visited the Iowa Wildlife Management District and who oppose GE crops - to write an affidavit about their concerns.
   It will take little time, cost nothing, and have no personal legal consequence to the plaintiff. We can help write the affidavit.
   The deadline is within a month.
