What a
wonderful development. Judy and I just were there on Saturday past, and
hiked into the main area above the visitor center. It was an awesome
experience in that we saw, in addition to the mounds which I had seen
several times before, literally hundres of Baltimore Orioles and dozens
and dozens of Red-Headed Woodpeckers, and at least one
Cerulean
Warbler (I think) and a Tanager (of some kind). We are not
highly skilled birders, so not always able to skillfully ID species, but
there just were lots and lots of birds there at that time, and of
course, it is early Spring at the site, so trees were only just
beginning to show leaf buds, which made the bird spotting much simpler.
