We've worked with the HSUS fighting pollution and inhumane treatment of animals on factory farms--this letter says it all in a few words. Cruelty and that toxic filled manure poison the human spirit and land, water and air. Phyllis
Will Coggin's assertion that the "noise" on the issue of humane treatment of farm pigs is coming solely from "animal-rights radicals at the Humane Society of the United States" could not be more wrong [letter, June 20].
I support the humane society morally and financially. I am not a radical; I am a lady who has a moral conscience, and I believe that modern farm practices have gone way too far. It has become all about making bigger and bigger profit at the tragic expense of farm animals.
Raising farm animals does not have to be on such a mammoth scale that all humanity is flushed down the river with the manure. You know that, and I know that.
