Actually some of us have been growing our own vegetables and fruits (small
farms in Decatur County grow their own cows, chickens and pigs--but the farmers
are old and dying out)--in some towns and cities community gardens have
become popular, and in really progressive towns chickens are allowed.
Since Mike and I have grown accustomed to our own canned and
frozen vegetables and fruits, processed food really tastes terrible!
Pat Fuller and I went on an India Earthwatch Butterfly and Bees
project and studied the many causes of bee decline. One positive for
city, town and rural dwellers is planting bee friendly plants, and
that has been helpful providing food for the bees.
Organic labels are not always what the are advertised. Unless
billions of folks stand up against the practices of big ag we will always be
helpless. Phyllis
Presidential acknowledgement of the issue is significant, isn’t it?
A task force is not the “usual channels” which are clearly helpless
against Big Ag. And a Presidential task force puts the onus on Obama
rather than Vilsack —
