On October 15, the Iowa Chapter of the Sierra Club is hosting its annual meeting in Ames. We hope you can join us.

The annual meeting brings together Sierra Club leaders, activists, and supporters to feast on a great meal, hear a great speaker, and enjoy the comradery of others who strive to preserve, protect, and enjoy the environment.

We have had a busy year environmentally, including issues related to turtles, water quality, and the Bakken pipeline. Next year we expect to address issues related to water quality and the 3/8 cent tax funding for protecting natural areas and improving water quality.

The day’s events include:

2:00 PM Afternoon Hike at Ledges with Mark Edwards. Meet at the Oak Woods Shelter at the Ledges State Park, south of Boone, Iowa.

4:30 PM Wine and cheese reception with the featured speaker at the home of Carolyn Raffensperger in Ames. Call 514-277-8868 for directions.

5:30 PM Dinner will be held at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 Sheldon Ave, Ames, IA 50014
