Jane,
“There will be absolutely no impact on the services to the general public or any other agencies that they work with”? What a cruel, stupid Statement!!!!!! Also department safety officer, animal feeding operations coordinator and Trail Crew are not needed and will not be missed!!!!!! Robert Scarth’s reactions.
“A spokesman said the changes would not hurt the services and duties performed by the department, which oversees state parks, regulates hunting and fishing, and manages many of the state’s conservation and environmental protection programs.”
“There will be absolutely no impact on the services to the general public or any other agencies that they work with – cities and counties and other entities will not see any impact of this,” spokesman Alex Murphy said.”
“The DNR also eliminated the positions of department safety officer, animal feeding operations coordinator and art director at its magazine. And in addition to the Trails Crew cuts, it has ended its over participation in the AmeriCorps program, which provides federal dollars for young people to work on DNR initiatives.”

Subject: Forestry meeting in NE Iowa
Forestry Bureau Reorganization Meeting
On Monday, July 3rd, Forestry Bureau Chief, Paul Tauke, was fired and the Forestry Bureau in Iowa was abolished. The state forest personnel are now under the Parks Bureau and the district foresters are in the Wildlife Bureau.
Chuck Gipp, DNR Director, and Bruce Trautman, DNR Deputy Director, have agreed to attend a meeting with the Northeast Iowa Forest Advisory Committee to explain their decision and answer questions.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 10th, at the Kerns Event Center in Edgewood, Iowa. Take Highway 3 to Main Street, then go north 1 1/2 blocks.
This decision could greatly affect the service you can receive from the district foresters. .
