Each utility in Iowa offers an energy efficiency program.  The program offerings include energy audits and rebates on the purchase of energy efficient appliances, water heaters, and furnaces.

A bill was recently introduced in the Iowa Senate that would gut those programs for all utilities in the state.

We all win with these energy efficiency programs.
·         Energy efficiency programs reduce the need for the utilities to build expensive new power plants which keeps costs to consumers like us low.  New power plants are expensive and result in increased costs on your utility bills.
·         Your own costs are reduced by the rebates when you buy an energy efficient appliance, as well as reduced costs on your utility bills.
·         Installing efficient appliances and efficient furnaces reduces the amount of polluting emissions.

The most economical and cleanest method of meeting our energy needs is through increased conservation and efficiency.  That is why SSB3078 should be rejected.

Tell your State Senator that you want him or her to oppose SSB3078.
