You are invited to join us at our bi-monthly Meeting!
Climate Change and My Health
Combatting and living with climate change is the theme of the 2019 general
meetings of Sierra Sage, the South Orange County Group of the Sierra Club.
On July 23, the specific topic will be "Climate Change & My Health" . Our
speakers will address aspects of global warming that are often overlooked.
Rising temperatures and longer, more severe heat waves invite more tropical
and subtropical malefactors to move north where they will help spread
disease amongst flora and fauna including humans. Dengue fever and the
plague are just two of the threats we face. Wildfires and extended heat
spells negatively affect the air we breathe and cause respiratory and/or
pulmonary problems, especially among the young and the elderly.
How we can prepare for, adapt to, mitigate, and protect ourselves from these
perils is this evening's theme. Although climate change poses an
existential threat to humanity, you'll leave the meeting knowing better how
to take care of yourself in a warming world.
