I’m in Cedar Falls. Several times I’ve taken my cans and bottles to the recycle center I got there at noon when it opened. I found in line maybe 10 people, each with multiple sacks of hundreds of cans; possibly from bars etc.  I would have to wait several hours in line to get my $7 worth of cans redeemed.  Gave up and donated them to a charity.  Stores must redeem deposits for the items they sell.  Several years ago the stores had a petition for customers to sign that,due to germs in stores, they wouldn’t have to do redemption.  Iowa health officials then declared that they had no record of health problems related to store redemptions.  Make the stores redeem.  The germs are just a front for a chore they don’t like.
