The following is from Sierra Club Action Daily #153, January 5, 1999:

The Post-Dispatch editorial sums it up best: "Missourians can't boast
about our state's majestic mountain ranges or pristine beaches. We
can, however, brag on the gifts with which Nature has endowed
Missouri: two mighty rivers, tens of thousands of miles of streams and
the feathered, finned and furred creatures that call them home. We
should be wise stewards of our best natural features so that
generations of Missourians can continue to enjoy them."

What the Post-Dispatch says about Missouri applies to Iowa too. That's why we
need to protect the miles of nautural rivers and streams that we have left. No
more dams and channelization.
