We are being asked to write to urge a ban on antibiotics used to promote rapid growth in livestock. If only antibiotics are banned, the industry will search for yet another untested magic pill of unknown hazards to fatten their stock. I think it would be best to ask that feed be limited to food - food that is appropriate to the animal that is being fed. One of the problems with hog lot feces is that the pigs can't digest the corn they are being fed and thus produce much more phosphorus than they would if they could properly digest their food. And bye-the-bye, isn't this abuse of animals? Peggy Murdock ----------------------------------------------------------------- To get off the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask]
