The Iowa Chapter of Sierra Club is sponsoring a booth at the Iowa State Fair again for the third year. We have had a lot of exposure at these exhibits, and this year the theme of the booth is water quality. Please call Greg Nepstad at 515-987-4846 (Waukee) to volunteer. The fair runs from August 12-22, and we are required to have someone at the booth from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. This requires a lot of volunteers -- we break the day up into 3 four-hour time periods, and we provide a ticket to get in to the fair (although we don't provide a parking ticket). The Iowa City Group filled in a whole day last year -- they made it an outing and came as a group -- they had such a good time that they are doing it again this year. Thanks, Iowa City! Could some of the other groups do this, also? Six people would fill the day, and you could take turns coming and going (we like to have 2 people there at one time). Or you could do it with four people (or even three) and switch off during the day, taking the opportunity to tour the fair. The time goes pretty fast and we are back in the Agriculture Building. If this doesn't look like it would work out for your Group, please consider volunteering as an individual to fill at least one time slot -- bring your spouse, or a friend, or another family member to keep you company. 9-12 12-5 5-9 The Central Iowa Group has filled most of the time slots for the last two years, but this is a Chapter activity, and it is the State Fair. Please contact me at [log in to unmask] or 515-223-5047 or call Greg. We need your participation!
