Members of the Sierra Club and Environmental Advocates as well as interested citizens are invited to attend a presentation about Iowa City's district planning process and North District planning in particular. Melody Rockwell, city planner, will make the presentation at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25 at the Iowa City Civic Center Council Chambers at 410 E. Washington Street. We hope you can make it! It's a good opportunity to help ensure smart growth for our community. The North District is generally bounded on the north by I-80, on the east by Dodge Street/Highway 1, and on the west by the Iowa River but also includes the new water plant site north of I-80. Sensitive environmental features in the area include wooded ravines, stream corridors, wetlands and archaelogical sites on vacant parcels. The Oct. 25 event will also introduce people to the two-evening North District Citizen Planning Workshop that will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10 and Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Shimek Elementary School, 1400 Grissel Place. If you would like to be placed on a mailing list regarding the November planning events, send your name and contact information to <[log in to unmask]>. Please feel free to pass this notice on to any environmental or other interested group or individual. Thanks, Becky Becky Soglin Conservation Chair, Iowa City Area Group, Sierra Club Board member, Environmental Advocates Note: This is a personal e-mail account held privately through the University of Iowa.
