The secret to getting those numbers to work is to remember that they are both in the 319 area code.

Called each of the numbers given below and both had recordings saying the number was no longer in service. What now?

Subject: Dove Hunting Poll - TODAY!

Dear Friend(s)-
Today's Gazette Tel-Us poll asks whether dove hunting should be legalized in Iowa. It's easy to vote. Just call 337-7000 (Iowa City) or 363-7000 (Cedar Rapids), then, when indicated, enter the category code 1111. This takes you to the poll. Thanks for your help.

I have sent you this note because at some point you have indicated your opposition to (or reservations about) having a dove hunting season in Iowa. The effort to open such a season will be front and center in the next legislative session. I am planning on working strongly to oppose dove hunting and would like to keep you informed of these efforts. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE PART OF THIS EFFORT - PLEASE LET ME KNOW - then I will not continue to send you materials.

If you can send me additional names of those who are opposed to this effort, I will add them to an email list.

Thanks for your help. We will all need to work very hard in the next two months. We are already a bit behind the opposition - despite the "millions of dollars" we have to spend :)

At this point, I'd like to suggest that nice letters to Governor Vilsack would be appropriate. To be successful, the bill ultimately has to get to his desk. The more opposition he hears, the less likely he is to want to see it on that desk. Enough letters opposing, and his team will be working to scuttle the bill. Be sure to use the word "divisive" in your letters, and don't be afraid to speak for the majority of Iowans on this issue (every poll shows exactly where the public is on this).
