The Ames City Council will consider the Hallett's Quarry development at
it's December 28th meeting. It may either table the motion or deny
it. It cannot say "yes" because of the legal notification
requirements for the property that would be involuntarily annexed to the
city.
A group of citizens whose goal is to have the area set aside as a park
have been meeting on a regular basis. A number of experts have been
scheduled to speak at the city council meeting on Dec. 28th.
Scheduled speakers are being allowed 5 minutes to speak to the city
council, others will probably have even less time.
The citizen group has asked that speakers at the council meeting ask for
the area to be set aside for a park and refrain from discussing the
details of the proposed development, refrain from criticising the
developer, and from repeating any information already covered by another
speaker.
